Avid-Fall of 2015- Current
During my time in Avid I worked with students who are the first generation in their family to be attending college. The Avid program has provided me the tools to purposefully integrate higher order thinking skills into my daily teaching activities. Avid has helped the students to find strengths and weaknesses in their academics, as a team that relies on one another for support. Avid has given me the opportunity to become an efficient leader who drives students to be the best they can be.
CampRecreation-Summer of 2013
I worked with individuals with disabilities the disabilities varied from Down Syndrome to vision disabilities, there was a wide range of individuals there. I had the pleasure of helping individuals in curricular activities such as art and music, I even ensured they received the proper care needed to attend the camp. During my time there, my patience grew significantly, for every individual completed their activities at their own pace. This will translate into my classroom one day, for every student learns a new subject at their own pace.
Special Olympics- Summers of 2013-2014
I worked with individuals who were participating in extracurricular activities such as Basketball, Soccer, Track and Field, and Bocce ball. My main concern was how they traveled from each event, I would ensure that each individual made it to their scheduled game on time, their practice on time, and I would ensure that even though one individual may do bad in a specific sport, that they are still winners because they tried and had fun, which is the most important part of joining a sport.
